Many of us moved here because we loved Branchburg’s rural character. Our picturesque countryside is quickly disappearing, and commercial development is out of control. Traffic, pollution, and noise put more stress on residents as individual rights are crushed by corporate interests. Our population is projected to increase 20% due to high-density housing development. The Township voted to approve 3 TIMES the units mandated by the state!
Residents showed up to the Planning Board in record numbers to object to the huge Aldi-QuickChek-restaurant-office complex on the iconic open field at 202 and Old York and had their concerns dismissed, with the Planning Board Vice Chair (a Township Committee appointee) caught on a hot mic saying "God, these people piss me off." Our opponent voted in favor of Aldi-QuickChek and for the Branchburg Family Golf site redevelopment as Planning Board liaison.
We will vote against, and appoint land use board members who will vote against, any projects that degrade Branchburg’s quality of life.
The Township Committee raised taxes 7.4% ($2 million) in 2024 after passing a non-binding referendum to prevent a warehouse. After raising your taxes, the Township Committee is discussing with developers how to develop that exact plot of land. They're also planning to spend an extravagant $20 million to remodel the 40 year old Municipal Complex.
Steven and Tara support ending PILOT agreements that benefit developers at the expense of our residents, and giving rebates to seniors for property tax relief.
Our opponent is seeking his TENTH TERM on the Township Committee, which financially benefits him as he takes taxpayer-funded healthcare benefits for his entire family for his part-time elected position, a practice outlawed by the Christie administration which he is grandfathered into. Voting him out is an automatic budget decrease.
Branchburg officials have a reputation for quietly making decisions without regard for public input. In fact, a Planning Board member was caught on a hot mic after a record number of concerned citizens showed up to oppose Aldi-QuickChek saying: “God, these people piss me off.” They even block all comments on Township Facebook posts. We will appoint board and committee members who aren’t establishment insiders, and make our municipal government more transparent. Our representatives work for the PEOPLE, not the other way around.
Our opponent is seeking his TENTH term. We pledge to limit ourselves to two consecutive terms and donate our salaries to Branchburg's first responders. Career politicians become corrupted by other interests than the people they serve. We're fighting for YOU, not beholden to the establishment.
